I have a belkin external hdd enclosure that holds a normal internal hdd. this is connected by usb to the computer.
Having downloaded knoppix but having no experience of it and little of linux i am having a problem mounting the hdd, using cd-based knoppix.
My hdd is formatted as NTFS at the moment and it mounts just fine under knoppix.
However i have issues with fragmentation and so i want to change it (or at least partition a bit of it) to ext3 or reiserfs.
when i tried to do this though the hdd icon would appear on the kde desktop but when i clicked it i got an error message suggesting lots of different reasons it wouldn't work. it mentions bad filesystem, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda5 or too many connected filesystems. i'm assuming i need an entry in fstab or something? why do i have this problem with reiserfs/ext3 but not ntfs?
all help will be really appreciated!
