This will be my general problem post. I posted it here in general support as these problem fall into a couple different categories.

1. How can I get my display to be its true resolution of 1600x1200 on my Dell 5150 laptop (as of now I can only archive 1024x768). To simplify I has put my lspci at the bottom of this post. I believe it sees my Nvidia card and drivers, but maybe not the monitor?

2. Dell truemobile1150 problems, I have two.
A. First is when I boot up my card is "recognized", but I think due to the fact that I do not broadcast my ssid and I have wep the card fails, initially, to connect. I have found a work around here are the steps I take. If there is a better way let me know. First I launch Network Card Config and select eth0 and yes DHCP broadcast. If I let that run it fails, but if I then launch Wavelan config I can configure the ssid and the WEP code, and I also concurrently close the net card config because if I don't it just fails anyway. Then finally I open root shell and pump -i eth0. Poof I am able to connect to my network, surf the web and posting long newbie posts here at knoppix.net. Is there a better way!?

B. Second is that I still can't seem to get Airsnort to work! It is always that damn monitor problem. To be clear on no other version have I ever been able to get it to work. Sometimes in version of 3.3 iwpriv would show monitor mode, but it still did not work! currently in version 3.4 with the 2.6 kernel my iwpriv is as follows:

knoppix@ttyp0[knoppix]$ iwpriv eth0
eth0 Available private ioctl :
force_reset (8BE0) : set 0 & get 0
card_reset (8BE1) : set 0 & get 0
set_port3 (8BE2) : set 1 int & get 0
get_port3 (8BE3) : set 0 & get 1 int
set_preamble (8BE4) : set 1 int & get 0
get_preamble (8BE5) : set 0 & get 1 int
set_ibssport (8BE6) : set 1 int & get 0
get_ibssport (8BE7) : set 0 & get 1 int
dump_recs (8BFF) : set 0 & get 0
To add insult to injury this what I get when "trying" to run kismet now:

knoppix@ttyp0[knoppix]$ sudo kismet

Suid priv-dropping disabled. This may not be secure.

Since this post is starting to turn into a small novel I'll leave it at that for now. If I could fix at least one of these problems for now that would be a great start. just for kick I'll also post my cardctl ident:

knoppix@ttyp0[knoppix]$ cardctl ident
Socket 0:
product info: "Dell", "TrueMobile 1150 Series PC Card", "Version 01.01", ""
manfid: 0x0156, 0x0002
function: 6 (network)

If there is anything else I can post that would aid anyone in cracking my problems please let me know. Thanks in advance for any help and LONG LIVE KNOPPIX!
