im tryin to get the os to work and it keeps displaying


loading spec packet failed, trying to wing it

help please!!!

Hm.

Have you checked the md5 sums of your ISO-image before burning it?

The problem might be incorectly downloaded or corrupted ISO image.

sorry im just getting stsrted in this hobby and im not very farmiliar with the open source crowd. how do u check the md5 tags i downloadeed using both an ftp and bittorrent and both disks were burned using nero and they both returned thesame error

You have downloaded the imgages under Windows, right?
Try this: http://downloads.activestate.com/contrib/md5sum/Windows/
If it is not such a big problem, try downloading the image again, but without using bittorrent, just direct ftp download.

In the folder on the server, where the ISO image is, should you find this file: KNOPPIX_V3.4-2004-05-10-EN.iso.md5.asc
There are the md5sum that you should have with your image.

ive tried downloading again with ftp and it again didnt work. I may have my computer set wrong the entire message after it says "keyboard detected""mouse detected" "ATAPI Device installed TOSHIBA CD-ROM XM-5602B".... then it says
ISOLINUX 2.04 (Debian, 2003-06-06) isolinux: loading spec packet failed, trying to wing it...
isolinux: Failed to locate CD-ROM device; boot failed

oh yeah one other thing i have my setup set to boot from cd and then hard disk but should i change the thing that says this

Primary IDE Master WDC AC31600H
Primary IDE Slave not installed
Secondary IDE Master Toshiba CD-ROM XM-
Secondary IDE Slave not installed

I am sorry, but I don't know what your problem could be.
