I have a Dell Insp. 7000 laptop, 600MHz. I have been messing with WinXP and Knoppix both on the HD for a bit. But I never tried my wifi setup in Linux. I now have Knopp 3.4 (5-10-04) loaded and running fine. They say madwifi is built already inside of this version? So I don't need to build madwifi? I just need drivers?
So how can I get my atheros Dlink G650 card running?
I can run wlanconfig, but doesn't find card. I guess autoconfig is not seeing card.
I think I will be set once Linux sees the card, I just need to get there.

Any help will rock!
Thanx

I'm running into something similar on my Toshiba Satellite A35-S159. If I boot into kernel 2.4.26, madwifi is installed and I have no problem running my wireless card. However, when booting into 2.6.5, my wifi card (atheros) shows in lspci but it doesn't show under iwconfig or ifconfig. I'm thinking that wireless wasn't compiled into that kernel. Can anyone confirm this or suggest a solution to my issue? Thanks.

I just checked lspci also in knopp26. It shows Atheros abg NIC, but iwconfig does not see ath0.
I'll check this under knopp24.
Anyone else help us out? Doesn't autoconfig add ath0 to ifconfig?

I'm not a home so I can't check for sure, but I'm wondering whether the kernel has the wifi stuff compiled into it. I would not like to have to compile a new kernel. Can anyone verify that this is the problem?

Is there a madwifi module that should be loaded on boot? lsmoddoesn't show anything called madwifif.
