I wanted to boot knoppix 3.4 (kernel 2.6.5) with lvm, but when I run vgscan,
it complain that lvm module is not loaded. I tried also to run /etc/init.d/lvm , same result . There is only dm_mod module , but not lvm or lvm-mod.
can someone help me to use lvm with knoppix 3.4 livecd and kernel 2.6.5 , or is it not possible (it's really pitty if it can't use lvm)? Or I can't use it because
the livecd 3.4 has only lvm1 ?

thanks,
cahya

I think it is related to wrong user land tools.. as far as I know the lvm1 tools do not work with 2.6 kernels because those only have lvm2 which is in fact compatibel, but the tools are not.

dm_mod is the module for lvm2 in kernel 2.6.x

but you still need lvm2 user land tools, lvm1 user tools don't know about dm_mod. I hope the next knoppix will have a complete lvm2 support.
