i wanted to know how this can be done (or if it can be done) in knoppix :
i would like to take an Cable internet connection and split it 4 ways firewall and limit the bandwith and the priority of the connections this way
192.168.0.2 gets full up and down access with lowest priority
192.168.0.3 gets 100kbits up and down and highest priority
192.168.0.4 gots 50 kbits up and down with normal priority and
192.168.0.100-200 get 50 kb up and down with normall priorty all together (if 2 people connect in that range they can only use that much BW total)

id prefernot to install but its not that big a problem
(ive only used knoppix on and off for about 6 months now and im still a bit of a noobie but i will learn quickly)
(thank you in advance for any help )

I think you would be better off using a dedicated router distro. There are probably a few different ones out there that will allow you to shape bandwidth, but one that I know of is M0n0wall (http://www.m0n0.ch/wall/).

M0n0wall is BSD based and looks very nice. Check out the documentation for M0n0wall because if you have the right wireless card you can also use it as a wireless router.

Hope this helps.
