e2compr on Knoppix?

Having troubles getting e2compr running on Knoppix 3.3 -- hd-installed.

e2compr is on the fly disk file compression.

Anyone have it working? The current problem is the patch command freezes (greater than an hour on an XP 2400). Could be something simple, I am linewbie with some sys experience on other platforms ( not UNIX).

No idea: I'd be put off by the project's history of abandonment and re-susitation. :wink:

Just a thought, are you using patch correctly?

man patch

(it's easier to have the patch in the same directory as the file to be patched, although this is not how most sysops do it.)
