ut2004 no sound

has anyone been able to get sound to work with ut2004 on knoppix 3.4c't i did a hard drive install and sound works great on everything cept ut2004....i have updated to the latest openal drivers and the video works great but no sound is really annoying....help please?

for those interested to make the sound work all i had to do was append alsa as a cheat code when i booted :D
