Knoppix 3.4 10/05 Soundcard Drivers

Hey,

If I boot up Knoppix 3.4 (10/05) and play an mp3 I get no sound so I went through this audio diagnostics thing on it (I forget its name now) and it found my soundcard correctly (Vortex 2) but then said that this card was not yet supported.

Does anybody know if it is possible for me to somehow get soundcard working? Use generic drivers? Or does linux not work like this?

Just wondering as this Knoppix seems to have everything I want apart from the sound issues I'm having.

Hey,

Anybody? I want it more than ever now that I have found it can read NTFS partitions so I can play my mp3's if I get the soundcard working!! How about just a generic driver just so that it can at least play?
