After several attempts i now have managed to install the Knoppix on to my computer. When you install Windows on a computer, normally you need to load the chipset drivers etc afterwards. Does the same apply to Knoppix as the modem for one is not recognised. If so how do i load them. Regards. Bobby.

as for the drivers... not normally.
as for the modem... my guess is that the modem is an internal winmodem, if i am right it might work but if you have bad luck it might not be supported by linux.
most external modems (box besides the computer) and most network conected ?DSL modems can be made to work.
give us the info on what modem and how it is atached to computer (if external) and we might be able to help.
sudo lspci in a console will perhaps give us some litle more info (paste what it tells you here).
