I want it to auto mount itself at boot.

THis is the line from the fstab that needs to be changed.


dev/hdb1 /mnt/hdb1 vfat noauto,users,exec,umask=000 0 0


should i just say defaults, instead of noauto ?

Yes, the default is to auto-mount, so that should work; although depending on which version of Knoppix you're using you may find you also need to follow the instructions in this thread (http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=11107) (note my first post was incorrect - try the second attempt!)
