ParallelKnoppix: Release announcement

ParallelKnoppix is a re-master of the Knoppix CD that adds the ability to create an MPI-enabled cluster in about 15 minutes. Both the LAM/MPI and MPICH implementations are supported.

This might be useful to people who would like to explore parallel computing, or to people who already use parallel computing, but would like to have a "portable cluster".

The homepage is at http://pareto.uab.es/mcreel/ParallelKnoppix/

I have become aware that you can do MPI with Quantian 0.5.9 using an openMosix trick. The information is at

http://howto.ipng.be/openMosixWiki/index.php

To get the relevant page, enter LAM in the find page box.

If anyone does some benchmarking that compares the two methods, I would appreciate hearing about it.
