knoppix novice in a jam!! Help

I just downloaded the latest knoppix iso image and burned the image.

i popped it in and booted from the CD. and i get this error msg.

RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block0
invalid compressed format(err=1)<6>Freeing Initrd memory: 781K freed
FAT: Bogus logical sector size 1374
Kernel Panic: VFS : Unable to mount root fs on 01:03

then the system hangs... i tried doing mem=128M
and other modes like failsafe... but no luck...
it says the same in my second computer also...

wht is wrong... ?? could someone help me... ???

Did you check to see if the ISO file you downloaded is error free? In linux you can used the command
# md5sum Knoppix-3.xx.iso
Or in windows you can use the utility from line6.com at http://www.line6.com/software/?submit=Show%3A&hardware=All&name=MD5+Checksum+Utility&os=Windows+XP or MD5Summer http://www.md5summer.org/. Once installed you can right click on a file and choose "checksum" and it will perform a md5 checksum on the file.
Either way, it will spit out a scheme of letters & numbers. You must check to see if that scheme you received is the same as the MD5 sum as listed on the download site. If they match then the download is error free and I guess that the problem you are having is related to your machine & not the downloaded ISO file.

hmm did you check the md5sum before burning? it might be a bad download.
do you get the boot: at all?
anfd the burn might be bad aswell (burn it sloooow)

Thank you so much..... i did download md5summer and try it.... yeah... the check sum did not match.... damn.... do i have to download it again....?? it took me 3 days the download it...

Try to snag it by ftp if you can, or use a download manager which allows resumes.
