I cant install any RPM File. After opening the installer i have to log in as root, after that the following message appears:

rpm -U --replacepkgs '//home/tbauer/burn/fp-linux-ws.rpm';echo RESULT=$?
rpm: To install rpm packages on Debian systems, use alien. See README.Debian.
error: cannot open Packages index using db3 - No such file or directory (2)
error: cannot open Packages database in /var/lib/rpm
RESULT=1

No matter what program i try to install.

Well read the error- it gave you the answer! :) You can't use rpm's on Debian. They were made for Redhat. Debian uses .debs which are much better IMHO. You can (as the error message indicates) use alien to convert an rpm to a deb but I would only use an rpm if that package didn't exist in Debian. BTW I presume this is a hdd installation and not the live cd?

Most of the RPMs that dont say mandrake or redhat work on debian, but ive only tried about 3 out of who knows how many.
