View Full Version : Sound problem with ad 1980(motherboard asus a7v8x-x)

please help me, iam really new using linux and i have no clue about anything. i tried to read the forum, but nothing of what i founded worked (alsa etc). the knoppix detect my soundcard and uses the ac97 driver, and works fine, xmms plays mp3 and all, but no sound goes out from the speakers. i have no clue how to make it work, please help.
i have a ADi 1980, built in in the asus a7v8x-x motherboard. my hard disk is screwed, so i cant install anything, i run knoopix from the cd.

Check if your soundcard is set up correctly. Typ in a shell as root: "sndconfig"

When U boot from CD, at the boot prompt U can type in "knoppix alsa"
That will make use of alsa driver and your sound will start working. I have the same sound chipset in my Asus motherboard and it works for me.
