Is there a difference on how X-forwarding needs to be done on 3.3 vs. 3.4? I'm using a Knoppix variant (Quantian) whose CD version is based on ClusterKnoppix 3.3, and I'm having trouble with X-forwarding while using the same method that worked fine on 3.4.
For 3.4, I simply "xhost + remote.server" locally, "ssh user@remote.server", then from the remote server I "setenv DISPLAY local.server:0". This works fine.
With 3.3, this does not work. Additionally, with both 3.3 and 3.4, I can get an xterm to pop up locally from the remote server without doing the "setenv" command (though I can't run the program I need to run using this method). On 3.3, changing the DISPLAY variable even breaks the ability to see the xterm.
I also tried setting the DISPLAY to local.server:0.0, :10, and :10.0, with no luck
