View Full Version : reading ntfs from knoppix

i am running knoppix from the cd. is there any way to access my files on an ntfs partition? if so, how? any help would be appreciated. also, can you please "dum it down" a bit for me as i have never used linux before.

Yes, reading is not a problem, but you have to take care when writing to NTFS. Fortunately, the latest release of Knoppix has tools which will allow writing to NTFS as well.

Try clicking the hd from the icon on the Knoppix desktop (typically hda1 or hda2, depending on your setup - the "a" represents the first hard drive, the "1" represents the first partition). You should be able to see and read the contents in the window that opens (it will be read-only unless you change it). If you have problems at this stage, give us more specifics, and someone will try to help.
