I have a Macintosh iBook and I was wondering if it would be possible that I could run Knoppix on it.
I just thought it would be possible since the Macintosh OS is close to the Linux OS.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks!

Hi there,
All the programs and the Linux kernel are compiled for x86 processor. The apples use a PowerPC processor. Knoppix does not support this hardware at this time. It would be possable to make a PowerPC knoppix, but that would take a very long time and unless someone volunteers, chances are it's not going to happen any time soon.

If not Knoppix, is there ANY LIVE CD (linux) for Macintosh of any type?

I have google'd it and struck out...

Thx,

Isn't the Mac OS X based on BSD Linux?

Calling it "BSD Linux" would probably start a flame war in other places , but anyway, yes and there's more about Apple's OS X (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OSX) and Darwin (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apple_Darwin) (the core of Apple's OS) on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org) if you're interested. Not to mention BSD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BSD).
