I get various errors, mount point doesn't exist, device block doesn't exist, etc.

Scanned the plethora of posts on this topic, tried what has worked for others, and the only thing I've gathered is what info to post:

/dev/dvd should be changed to /dev/sr1

/dev/cdaudio should be changed to /dev/sr0

Than make new icons that point to this. Make sure you have a data cd in the drive to test it.

fstab now looks like:

# /etc/fstab: filesystem table.
#
# filesystem mountpoint type options dump pass
/dev/hda3 / ext3 defaults,errors=remount-ro 0 1

proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
/dev/fd0 /floppy vfat defaults,user,noauto,showexec,umask=022 0 0
usbdevfs /proc/bus/usb usbdevfs defaults 0 0
sysfs /sys sysfs defaults 0 0
/dev/sr1 /dvd iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0
/dev/sr0 /cdaudio iso9660 defaults,ro,user,noexec,noauto 0 0
# Added by KNOPPIX
/dev/hda1 /mnt/hda1 ext2 noauto,users,exec 0 0
# Added by KNOPPIX
/dev/hda2 none swap defaults 0 0
# Added by KNOPPIX
/dev/hda4 /mnt/hda4 vfat noauto,users,exec,umask=000 0 0

when I try to mount my DVD or CD drive I now get the error:

root@box:/home/dane# mount -t iso9660 /dev/sr0 /cdaudio
mount: /dev/sr0 is not a valid block device

root@box:/home/dane# mount -t iso9660 /dev/sr1 /dvd
mount: /dev/sr1 is not a valid block device
