Hi everybody,

knoppix dosn't install my realtek rtl-8169 network interface. Everything seems to be ok:
- lsmod shows the module r8169 (bound to nothing!)
- lspci shows the card
- manual configuration by netcardconfig seems to work, but i can only ping the local interface
The interface is in the mainboard (gigabyte k8n) integrateted.

Thanks for the help

Henning

What's the output of ifconfig -a ?

ifconfig shows the lo and the eth0 interface, both up. the eth0 is the realtek card with the right IP address and MAC number (i'm running windows xp on the same computer with intranet working). the right chip is regognized (controlled by dmesg). My DHCP server works quite fine with all others computer, via knoppix or windows xp or suse linux.

bye henning

I seem to recall some reatek chipset needing the "noapic" cheatcode to work. OTOH, someone else (http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=38809) seems to have had problems with that gigabit chipset... Try booting with "knoppix noapic" and see if it helps.
