Due the new version of Knoppix is not including mkfile, or rauwrite is near than impossible to install it, if you try to install on hard disk (my notebook doesn´t recognize pcmcia cd, neither usb cd).

But when traying to download an old version of knoppix I found 99% of the links are downloading the last version (that not include mkfile or rauwrite), so makes so difficult to trying to install if your computer is not able to boot from the cd.

Next compilations will not included those files?.

This situation can make difficult to move from microsoft to Knoppix in the future.

Most of the web pages showing how to install in hard disk are talking about OLD version of Knoppix.

I am traying to donwload a Knoppix in spanish (I wish it will include mkfile or rauwrite...) from a ftp site, but is a old one: v3.3-2004-02-16. After that I would like to actualize it to the new´s one.

Regards, Mario. :!:

You might try to download an image for SmartBoot. It makes a 3 1/2 floppy which will boot to most hard drives and cds. It is found at as a disk image at http://btmgr.sourceforge.net/ and the image can be written to a floppy with rawwrite or rawwrite for windows, http://uranus.it.swin.edu.au/~jn/linux/
