Got a hdd installation of 3.3 and am quite pleased with it. The gui (kde) is a little slow and so is the xine playback of some wmv's. The xine website advises to run X under a higher priority. Anyone know how to do this?

Well, renice does the trick but it's an after the fact solution. Once you obtain the process id of X then you can issue the renice command to that process to change the priority on the fly. It turns out that that didn't solve my sluggish gui situation though.

Try setting nice_value=0 in /etc/X11/Xwrapper.config, or doing it by dpkg-reconfigure xserver-common
Hmm, might be a bit late as you said renice didn't help.
