i would like to install knoppix onto a notbook.
theres is no cdrom drive within.
its an omnibook2100.
therefore i took aout the harddisk for including them into pc.
now i installed first an partition with phdisk, dont know why for but the bios forced me to.
next one is a swap partition i think.
now i boot knoppix from cd and start the hdd install script for creating the swap and an ext3 partition.
knoppix was installed on hdd.
at last i put the hdd once again in the notebook the system runs until a mistake comes up:
mount: fs type devfs not supportet by kernel
umount: devfs: not moutet
what could it be? the desktop computer runs proper from hdd

I get the same error.
Don't know what it is but it's not caused by your unusual installation procedure since I did a normal Knoppix type HD install on a 1.2Ghz hp pavilion box.
but my 600Mhz Toshiba laptop with 'beginner type' install doesn't give the error message.

If you don't get a solution here, I suggest you re-post under general support.

issue the

uname -a
command, to see what kernel is installed.

The devfs-option is somewhat new (since 2.6 kernel, I guess, but optional.
