Remastering and recompiling kernel knoppix 3.4

i am Remastering knoppix 3.4 and wanto recompile a new 2.6.7 kernel from source i was wondering if there was a guide to doing it as the ones i found are only for knoppix 3.3 and older
also i am new to debian so any help would be appreciated

i have done a fair amount of work on mine
to much to wanto redo
also the fact i only have dialup dont help:(
