Booting 2.6 from USB (Knoppix 3.6)

I can boot Knoppix 3.6 fine off of a USB CDROM drive using the 2.4 kernel, but when I select the 2.6 kernel, Knoppix is unable to find it's filesystem.

Any ideas ?
