View Full Version : Geforce 6800GT only running @ 60Hz

Has somebody an idea of how to get 100hz.

vsync=100 doesnīt work
xvrefresh=100 doesn`t work

It last worked with my Geforce 3 Ti500 then i purchased a ATI9800 PRO --> 60 Hz then a Nvidia 6800GT --> 60Hz

Thanks for any idea..

NEwer card prob? Geforce3 is natively support in KNoppix I tihnk...atleast from what I saw looking at the drivers in kxconfig on KNoppix 3.4.

I couldn't find ANY new Radeons, from 7xxx+ and the highest in Nvidia was the Geforce3 I think...

UUh thats bad. I think this means goodbye Linux cause working with 60Hz is absolutely not possibly for me.... not in 2004.

Not necessarily, you can download drivers from Nvidia, that are more updated, that should work :)

But i dont know how to put them into the knoppix cd. Installing them everytime i boot from cd is a bit disturbing. Why arenīt they already integrated. I would put support for newer hardware over a bunch of programs or other tools if itīs a space reason...

My friends GF4 Ti4600 seems to be supported too cause he can use 100Hz...

Tried it an got errors like "nvidia.o" not found and it doesn`t work....

It worked. I just tested it using kernel 2.4 .
Boot using kernel 2.4 and run the nvidia-live.sh.
Copy knoppix.sh and nvidia.tbz (from /home/knoppix/dist/nvidia) to any root partition of your harddisk.
Then start knoppix with cheatcode: knoppix myconfig=scan.

But I cannot run KDE, not enough memory. You need more than 500M to use this method if you intend to run KDE. You could try different desktop which use less memory such as xfce.
Ex: knoppix myconfig=scan desktop=xfce
