just installed knoppix 3.6, and im having trouble finding the file to start the mysql server so i can run the client and do some database work.. how do i get it going? and in what directory is the required file?
First thing you need to do is edit your /etc/mysql/my.cnf, uncomment the password section and put a password, save.
Then run konsole and su: /etc/init.d/mysql start
If everything is okay mysqld (mysql server) will start.
Now you can start creating your mysql root and user password ,database etc.
Don't ask me how to create a database, I'm not a database expert.
