files get corrupted

i was using overclockix and just updated to knoppix 3.6
in knoppix 3.6 whatever files i download of the net get corrupted for some reason..
i tried donwloading the same file in overclockix and it works perfectly...
do i need to change some settings??
i have a 10/100mbps lan card...
i use a cable connection with dhcp..
please help...
