hello folks,
i'm trying to run knoppix 3.6, but for some reason it does not boot. it says:

Autoconfiguring devices (green bar --->) Done.

and then it stops here.
i tried with knoppix 3.3, knoppix 3.6 and bio-knoppix 0.4.2 and always the same result: it gets stuck here.
i also tried kanotix and it works correctly, but i would like to run knoppix 3.6 as far as the bio-knoppix release which would be useful for my interests.
my pc has a pci firewire board and a pci tv (for dvb t) board, maybe the problem is this hardware?
thanx for your help,
regards,

I will try to make this short and sweet.
1)If possible, reinstall.
2)Wipe the hard drive.
3)Start 3.6, you should get CFDISK with several options
4)Select partition, Root, and swap. Root will have to be more than 3.5 GB for good operation,
at least 512MB for swap.
5)If you got only two options on the CFDISK menu, wipe the hard drive and start again.
6)Do not expect a simple FORMAT to do the job. Use ERASE a good program and it's FREE.
7)Once you get CFDISK and have several options then select partition and later option two which will start loading the 3.6 files and installing. If all is well, sit back and watch. Speak only when spoken to. Touch nothing, until told to. If all is good you will have a good install. To keep you from having problems later, connect all hardware you expect to use and turn ON. This allows the system to identify each item and make provisions to load drivers. I suggest for first install to select beginner mode. To change mode reinstall.
Good Luck,
William

Whoa, there Hoss!!

You're answerig a 1-post newbie, and you're telling him to erase everything, reformat and reinstall, and yet there's nothing to indicate that he's done a HD install to start with!! How do you know he isn't trying to load a liveCD, and you just told him to wipe his hard drive for no good reason??

dear wcloteaux, it sounds like you are trying to give me bad and not useful help. it seems you think i'm a stupid newbie who won't understand. i was only looking for some help not for someone who think i'm stupid. i just joined this forum and is the first time someone answer this way.
then probably i'll get better help somewhere else.
sorry for disturbing this community.
bye.
