I tried to apply the instructions for installing NIS in debian given at this website:

But these instructions don't seem to be working under Knoppix. I get the error ypbind server search going backgrounded and could not find the NIS server even though the domainname shows the correct NIS domainname.
There is also another very good website on how to setup NIS and automounter available at:
http://penguin.epfl.ch/athome/
These instructions works for me under Mandrake Linux, but does not work under Knoppix probably because I dont quite have good understanding of Knoppix and NIS.
Can any NIS expert help out with the list of steps needed to establish NIS in knoppix based on the above two instructional websites?
It would be nice to have it also available in FAQ, under KnoppixNetwork FAQ.
