Hi,

i use a NetgearWG511 which seems to be recognized pretty well.
I can for example successfully "ping www.heise.de" and get response-times of around 70ms.
So i gather that DNS and Gateway are configured correctly for my access point and WEP works fine, too.

However i am unable to browse to the website "www.heise.de" either in Konqueror or Mozilla. A connection timeout is shown.
(same goes for any other website).

Webbrowsing via the access point from other PCs works fine.

I use Knoppix 3.6 with Kernel 2.6.7 as boot kernel.

I am totally puzzeled by this problem.
THX in Advance for any help.

Markus

Weird indeed; maybe you can try "traceroute www.heise.de" ...

traceroute gives me a nice "route" and works just fine as well.

Very strange.

HAAAAAAA, problem "resolved":

unbelievable: my Netgear Router WGR614 did not "like" my IP-Adress: 192.168.0.255

It relayed all ping-traffic just fine, but refused all other trafic.
Changed my notebooks IP to 192.168.0.35 and now it works just fine.

Hmpf. LOL

THX

Erh, nothing unbelievable here, 255 is reserved for broadcasts and should never be allocated to a particular system. Glad you got it working.

just want to add that 192.168.0.0 and 192.168.0.1 are "reserved" in most cases.
that is as gateway...
just a minor thought.
