Hello again,

ESS Technology ES1978 Maestro 2E (rev 10)

This is a pretty standard laptop soundcard (from more than three years ago) and already works in Knoppix, according to http://linuxwiki.de/KNOPPIX_2fHardwareDatenbank_2fNotebook (second Dell entry).

Only in my notebook, nothing's happening. Below is the appropriate lspci -v entry, not sure if there's anything else I should include (pretty new to this gnu/linux stuff).
Once again, many thanks for any help...

Chris

Thanks, will try that when I next boot up my old laptop (been a hectic week...) and report back.

Tried that, soundcard is supported. Was adivsed by the confgiurator to ensure that "PnP OS" is set to "no" in BIOS. Did that and now all works fine.

Thanks!
