figured i would post an update.. during boot, the cardmgr service starts and seems to be working...but no dice on my network card...which is a dell truemobile 1150 which i used to use under linux on my old laptop.

What type of sound card is it. Also, did you boot with the card in or out?

Try the opposite of what you've been doing.

its a laptop with an integrated sound card.

I think the sound may just be an issues of compiling the proper sound module into the kernel. The pcmcia issue is another thing all together

Ok, i have an update...
The cardmgr service works in kernel 2.4 with knoppix.
But my touch pad and or my keyboard will not work either.

What is the difference between 2.6 kernel and 2.4 kernel?
what could i do to enable my equipment so i have a working laptop?

update...

under 2.6 kernel i have gotten my cardbus to work properly.
There was a irq conflict with another system device. So in my /etc/pcmcia i excluded that irq and pcmcia grabbed another one.

Now if anyone can help me patch my orinoco drivers to enable monitor mode in 2.6.7 i would appreciate it.

Well, I sucessfully, patched my orinioco drivers and am now in monitor mode. Apparently, I was missing a sym link to asm. I now have a fully functional basic knoppix box...

Now to figure out some powersaving features.

Hi,
i also have a problem with my pcmcia wireless card using kernel 2.6
it works properly with the 2.4 kernel (by using " pump -i ath0") but not with 2.6
i am using a PMI installation of knoppix 3.7
can there be a solution for my case?
