Knoppix 3.4 Freezes during initializing peripherals

I'm using Knoppix 3.4 and 3.2. Both freeze when initializing services. With 3.4 the first two services initialize but everything freezes when it tries to initialize the icon that looks like a film strip. With 3.2 I can't tell where it freezes.
My Machine is an HP 8770C Pavilion:
ASUS K7M 1.04 board
Phoenix Technologies LTD 1.04 bios
850 MHz AMD Athlon
384 MB RAM
40GB Hard Drive with about 30 GB Free

I've tried disconnecting all of my internet and all of my external peripherals. I've tried XMODULE=VESA

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Can tou tell us your Graphic card???

You can try vga=normal

Check if there´s a share memory between Dimm and the graphic card, in that case ceck how muth is it and use mem =(Total RAM-Shared Ram)M It is important to put the M letter in cappital letter.

You can use testcd in order to check if the cds are copy correctly.

you can also try acpi=off

The machine uses NVIDIA Vanta (HP) [Display adapter]

I've tried all that you suggested with no success either for Knoppix 3.2 or 3.4
