Just wondering if their is anyway to use Knoppix to bypass a REMOTE computers windows folder security.

For example, I can browse the users share with no problem and read the files, however I only have read access (this is using windows xp). I need write access.

I was wondering if I used Knoppix to connect to the share (\\computer\share) if it bypasses any security that the host computer sets up, and will give me write access as well?

Is their anyway to even connect to the windows share using Knoppix?

Please help me out. Thanks.

How about create folder in WinXP with permission RW for everyone?

Is right that WinXp ask for user and password? Can You login to it?

Create special user and add RW permission, login on it form knoppix an try write something... good lock

Samba yields to the security settings of the host OS. So, if there are share and/or file-level permissions, then Samba will be granted only what the user credentials permit. Samba is what is used by almost every *nix implementation out there. These same rules apply to the other clients that browse SMB/CIFS directories (such as ADmitMac client for the Mac).
