Is it possible to resize a windows partition that is ntfs and use some of the empty space for a linux hd install? I have an 80 gig hd with a 4.5GB recovery partition and want to know if I can resize it to 35GB and use the remaining space for a linux hd install. Can this be done with QTparted from the live cd or from cfdisk from the live cd?

We did it here at school and everything worked fine. What I did was System Rescue CD, since it had all the latest versions of QTParted and NTFS Resizer.
The only thing was when the computer rebooted, it wanted to perform a disk check, which is understood because the OS is looking for x amount of data and now there is y amount.

I used the mandrake 10.1 community installer to help me resize my XP partition with no side effects.
