Read the sticky in hd-install forum section: http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2638

In a nutshell:
dselect update
apt-get install firefox -s (remove -s for simulation if it looks ok)

Shouldn't that be apt-get -s install firefox ?

The other approach which in my opinion is very simple is that dont go thru the pain of installing it.
Just download the tarred file from say for example

http://mozilla.cs.utah.edu/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/0.10.1/firefox-1.0PR-i686-linux-gtk2+xft.tar.gz

Untar it in your home directory and you can use firefox without installing it.

Shouldn't that be apt-get -s install firefox ? I always put the -s at the end. That way if it looks ok I just hit up-arrow and BackSpc*2 to remove it and install the package.
