Hi All

Im prety much a linux noob and am having some problems with getting knoppix running as a live cd.
On the bootup it hangs at dhcp broadcasting for ip and does nothing else. i know that dhcp is working with no issues from a smoothwall. i found the following when searching the forums.
I have the same problem. Knoppix uses the driver de4x5 instead of tulip. The de4x5-driver just hangs at "DHCP broadcasting". I've installed to hd and changed the driver to tulip, which works fine. Maybe Knoppix should use tulip instead of de4x5 ? Or at least offer a cheatcode ?

My questions are.
1.if i use a different network card will this change anything?
2. i also found the following dhcp=no , at what point during the boot process would i enter this? although ut didn't sound like it worked.
3. how hard would it be to alter the iso to get this other nic driver on?

Any replies would be appreciated as this is driving me up the wall.

cheers

When you boot the CD the first thing you will see is

boot:
Here you need to type

knoppix nodhcp
and then press enter after entering it.
