There are supposedly 2 good "Partition Magic" replacements GTPARTED or KBPARTITION.
KBPARTITION can be found at www.kde.org under apps harddisk. Maybe they could be added to both knoppix and knx-hdinstall script.
Since parted is already there GTparted seems like the best choice.
