nvidia driver install problem

When installing the nvidia driver for my Dell Latitude D800, the nvidia installer warned that rivafb support was installed in the kernel, so the nvidia driver wouldn't properly - how do I fix this problem.

Installed Knoppix 3.6 on HD.
