on the Window world, there is something called partition magic which can shrink/expand partitions. There may be some free linux tools doing this too.

Easy with the faces:) I think Redhat or Mandrake used to provide a copy of fips with their distro.

As far as I know it is the safest free program to change partition sizes. That said I would definetly backup all of the important stuff on your computer multiple times.

If you need to resize NTFS, use Mandrake.

Edit: Just make sure you use Mandrake 9.1

What type of filesytem do you already have on the disk?

Mandrake now uses a different partition manager, AFAIK it's called DiskDrake. I'm unsure if it's able to keep the data on the disk. There are free partition managers which can do this even without the need to defragement the disk. But it's been some time, I forgotten what those were called...

Use the force (http://www.google.com/)...

btw, please use some netiquette. Posting lots of devilish smilies or questionmarks doesn't make me hurry to anwer your question or something. On the contrary...
