View Full Version : Stop Knoppix from using a Win98 swap. [Solved]

Was running a test to make sure if Knoppix put a swap on a Windows98
partition that it wasn't destructive. So gave cheatcodes 'noswap' and
lower amount of mem than had. It gave me the choice of using /dev/hda1
which had Windows98. Okay, everything worked out fine, but everytime boot
Knoppix CD now it mounts that swap on Windows98. !?!?

I have a regular 500M swap for linux and even a 10G swap on another drive
for remastering. It use to pick those up and use them. Now, everytime it
jumps right for the Win98 swap and mounts it.

I thought that the Temp swap it would use was, well TEMP. Now the only way
seem to be able to make it stop is manually turn swapoff and umount the drive
and manually tell it to use the other swap or use the 'noswap' option, but then
I have enough memory that it doesn't even use swap.

Geesh, anyone got a way to make it revert back to normal behavior. I didn't
think the Win98 swap would be persistent. Also, I don't have a persistent home
so that isn't the issue.

No one? Finally had time to google. Found answer here:

Next time you start Knoppix, it will detect and use the swap file automatically. To remove the swap file and reclaim the disk space it occupies, exit Knoppix, start Windows, then delete the file "knoppix.swp" using Windows Explorer.
