Hi there,
Sometimes when i boot up pc, (set up to boot to knoppix default) it won't get past the graphical text and go onto kde.
It gets to a point where i can type in my id and password though, is there a comand i can type to move things on or is there a greater issue here.
If i reboot enough times or leave it long enough it sorts itself out, but it is does this enough to be annoying.
Cheers steve.

Try the command startx. If that fails try startkde.

xsetroot: unable to open display ''
start kde: starting up...
ksplask: cannot connect to x server
and the list goes on, any ideas??

Are you using Lilo to boot? It sounds like you are and it got corrupted.
A safer way to dual boot with XP is to use XPs own boot loader NTLDR --- aka the boot.ini file.
You can use a little utility called bootpart from www.winimage.com.
It will automagically put a line into your boot.ini file as a boot option for Knoppix.
