Dual Display prob

Hi, i have some acer laptop, with some lame via s3 video chip, ive ben running knoppix/debian for a while, and one thing bugs the hell outta me:
the damn pice of sh*te wont work with an external monitor plugged in, or it will if i boot the laptop with the external monitor plugged in, but i cant
get to use both screens at the same time, wich i could in windoze, any idea for some config tool/guide i should try ?

My guess is that it's the same reason why when i plug in my PS/2 optical mouse, neither it nor my touch pad works from that point on.

When linux boots, it autoconfigures and mounts those devices to the system. When you plug in an external monitor, you'd have to mount that device as well.

How do you mount the monitor? Does this also work with TV-out?
