Hi,

I haven't checked them all, but the mirrors don't seem to have kept
a copy of Knoppix 3.1. Given the rate at which 3.2 betas appear, it
seems like a good idea to keep the previous release available for users
willling to give linux a whirl on their system, and get a feel of both
leading desktop environments...

Not sure if meister Klaus sometimes wanders in these forums, but I'd
definitely like to suggest restoring V3.1-2003-01-20 on the mirrors.

In the meantime, if anybody knows where a copy can be grabbed...

Where are you located? There's lot's of people here and almost all of us have CD burners. Chances are somebody lives close enough to just drop one by or mail it o you.

Thanks VeeDubb for the offer. The only knoppix release I ever downloaded
is from October 2002, and it was awesome already! Then I had a look at
KDEKnoppix, and you gotta love konqueror with tabbed-browsing.
However I am in no hurry and quite happy with SuSE installed on my HD.

I thought, however, that the fast-moving nature of 3.2 might intimidate
newbies, where a very solid and time-proven earlier release, clearly marked
as such on the mirrors (maybe 3.1-STABLE or somesuch) might win a few
converts. A bleeding edge 3.2 is very exciting but I still believe a solid demo
system with both KDE and Gnome has its place.

Does anyone know where to post this so it has a chance of being heard?

1. Go to Google.com
2. Search KNOPPIX_V3.1-2003-01-20-EN.iso (for english version) and you will find some sites with v.3.1!

For example http://ftp.lug.udel.edu/pub/iso-images/Knoppix/
