How can I disable the javascript 'open window ' call in Mozilla 1.3 ? It was there in the Mozilla 1.2 came with the earlier KNOPPIX but not any more in the latest KNOPPIX bundle.

The option to suppres popup windows has moved in mozilla 1.3 (it is not a knoppix issue)

you can now find it under preferences->Privacy & Security->Popup Windows
