i am trying to install knoppix to a bootable usb device, and i cant get my kernel to boot.

i've set up grub on the mbr of the drive, and it comes up fine. whats weird is that grup things that the drive is (hd0,0), when i boot the drive the kernel cant find the init scrips. actually the first error that it compains about is: EXT2-fs error (device ramdis(1,0)): ext2_read_inode: unable to read inode block - inode=2785, block=16387.

the init option in grub is /etc/init, i copied that from the lilo config that was installed with knoppix, i am not sure if thats correct. i also made the initrd with the usb modules, so it should detect the drive, when it boots up. maybe the root option that i pass to the kernel is incorrect, but i've tried both sda1 and hda1, and niether works, it has to be one of them. anyone have any ideas?
