Hello,

while trying to run Gnome on our Knoppix 3.7 system we discovered that the Gnome menu's appear to be using some kind of overriden KDE theme.
This applies to both the Applications menu in the panel and the menu bars of GTK programs.

If we change the Gnome theme, these items keep their own theme. Although we haven't done any proper research on that, the style appeared very KDE like to me. This would not be surprising - it could be that Knoppix changed this to make Gnome applications runing under Knoppix look better.

However, we want to change this. We want these menus to follow the Gnome themes, just like the other Gnome elements.

Is there any way for us to accomplish this?

If I am wrong, then just ignore me. If you are running a HD install of Knoppix then this post belongs in the HD Install/Debian forum as it will get much more hits. The customization & remastering forum is for making custom Knoppix CDs.

I believe my post here will help: http://www.knoppix.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=70782#70782
I hope this helps.

Appearantly they were defined in /etc/gtk-2.0/gtkrc
Removing this file solved it :)
