In KNOPPIX v3.7 2004-12-08 I have a problem with the saved KNOPPIX configuration. When I add some fonts using KDE Control Center-> font installer and then save configuration, at the next reboot the fonts are not added to the fontpath until I enter the font installer again, without changing anything. Does anybody know, how to fix it?

I have resolved the problem.
In the file /KNOPPIX/etc/X11/Xsession.d/45xsession, which is responsible for the kde startup, the section responsible for the user fonts is commented out.
I have copied in the appropriate section from /usr/bin/startkde and the fonts seem to work.
Does anybody know, why this section has been commented out?

Since you found the solution, you should post some more details, such as the contents of the previously commented line, and its approximate location in the file. It would be helpful to have that knowledge documented just in case someone else has the same issue later ;)

OK, here it is:

I inserted lines 80-145 of /usr/bin/startkde
before the line
# Activate the KDE font directories
of /KNOPPIX/etc/X11/Xsession.d/45xsession
