scsi + hdd install

when i start knoppix, it goes to the first step of scanning for scsi devices, then it has some pink text after it, like a10xxx.a or something, then freezes
i can get passed this by using knoppix noscsi, but then when i get into the shell, i can't seem to install it to the hdd...
help?

Hi, What version of knoppix are you trying to boot and please provide
your basic hardware specs too. (Perhaps this is a new computer? Some new hardware with
integrated video seems to have problems being detected)

Also do you have scsi on this computer? Try "failsfe" or "knoppix pci=bios" at boot
